Both former Haas team boss Günther Steiner and former Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher foresee a heated season finale for McLaren. The title fight between Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris could become a test of strength for the racing team. There have been dangerous situations between the two rivals on track several times this year. It was āmore luck than brains,ā Schumacher believes. But McLaren boss Zak Brown does not want to interfere in the title battle.
After the summer break, the title duel is expected to intensify, as many Formula 1 experts suspect. Among them is Ralf Schumacher: āIf they keep going like this, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri will continue to crash into each otherās cars this year,ā the German emphasized on the āBackstage Boxgasseā podcast. They have often gotten in each otherās way in the current situation, most recently in Hungary, where Piastri attacked his teammate again shortly before the end of the race and almost lost control of his car.
Ā āIt was more luck than judgment that they didnāt touch,ā Schumacher said, shaking his head, seeing it as a sign of the great tension within the racing team. Steiner also warns McLaren A major McLaren blow-up may soon be on the horizon. Schumacher is already worriedāat least if the team doesnāt take countermeasures: āEither everyone has to sit down and ease off the throttle a little, or at some point weāll have Zak Brown in front of us asking why two McLarens didnāt make it to the finish.
ā Former Haas team boss Steiner also believes a dangerous season finale is looming for McLaren. āThey have almost crashed several times. Luck has often played a role. Thatās why I say: itās almost inevitable that there will be a collision between the two at some point,
ā the South Tyrolean told āweb.de.ā At McLaren, they are of course aware of the volatility of the situation. But Brown does not want to step in on the title fight between his drivers: āThereās nothing we like more than seeing them duel. Weāre aware of the risk, but weāll give both Oscar and Lando the same opportunities. So, may the best man win!ā
