Skepticism about military applications U.S. citizens are also skeptical about the military applications of AI. Forty-eight percent opposed the government using AI to carry out military strikes. Twenty-four percent were in favor of such an operation, while twenty-eight percent were unsure.

More than half of U.S. citizens (61 percent) also expressed concern about the high energy consumption of the new technology. Two-thirds of respondents also fear that people may give up relationships with other people in favor of AI companions.
